COMMITTEES
- Faith Communities: Works as a liaison with churches, faith communities, temples and synagogues to facilitate their involvement with Habitat in fundraising, house sponsorships, volunteers, and more. This committee keeps the faith-based communities informed about the needs and activities of the affiliate. Church relations requires an understanding of how church groups work and an ability to relate to a variety of different denominations.
- Construction:Directs and co-ordinates the construction of homes. Plans, implements and completes the construction projects of the affiliate. Obtains house plans, solicits professional help and donation of building materials, coordinates volunteers, and supervises construction.
- Family Partnership: : Works closely with Partner Families providing a mutual support system, advice, information resources, advocacy, and education in a number of ways, helping families be prepared to become successful homeowners. The committee also provides support for and tracking of the 500 hour sweat equity requirement.
- Family Selection: : Implements the family selection processes based on specific eligibility criteria. Processes and reviews applications, conducts in-home interviews with prospective families, and recommends families to the board for approval into the home ownership program.
- Public Relations: Raises and maintains community awareness of Habitat’s work, reflecting its mission and purpose. The committee plans and executes special events, develops and co-ordinates news releases, public service announcements, and marketing materials.
- Resource Development: : Develops and implements fundraising activities and campaigns for Eugene/Springfield Habitat for Humanity including the annual Raise the Roof Auction, working with major donors, and developing grant leads and proposals.
- Site Selection: Seeks and reviews potential Habitat building sites. Recommends land purchases for home construction to the Board of Directors.
