Springfield/Eugene Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing and making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. We invite people from all walks of life to work toward a solution to the problems of affordable housing. Together we raise money, organize
Springfield/Eugene Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1990 and is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Springfield/Eugene Habitat is governed by an independent, volunteer board of directors. In 2007, Springfield/Eugene Habitat completed its 39th house. The average cost of a 3-bedroom, 1070 sq. ft. Habitat house is $60,000, excluding the cost of the land and general operations..
We build simple, decent houses and keep them affordable to our partner families through the use of approximately 2,000 hours of volunteer labor and $15,000 in donated materials and supplies per house.
Habitat’s service area in Lane County includes communities from McKenzie Bridge in the east to Walton in the west, from Coburg in the north to an area just north of Creswell in the south.
Through a tithe program, Springfield/Eugene Habitat for Humanity has partnered with Habitat Nicaragua in building some 35 homes. We have sent one Global Village team to help build in Nicaragua.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Habitat. Join us in our mission, improving our community for all. Contact us at information@sehabitat.org, 541/741-1707, PO Box 488, Springfield, OR 97477.
